Student Secures Prescription Assistance Program Grant for MHAO
In one of the ACP Concentration Year courses (Resource Development) students are tasked with completing a grant application. Students can opt for a simulated grant, or write and apply for a real grant in hopes of meeting a need for their practicum site. Jedediah Bragg is currently at the Mental Health Association Oklahoma (MHAO) serving as the Project Manager working on designing and implementing the Association's Community Health and Wellness Program in partnership with the William K. Warren Foundation. After receiving funding for the program, a need was discovered in terms of prescription assistance for our program participants. Upon being assigned in class the task of applying for a grant, he ran with the idea of finding support for a prescription assistance program. After receiving approval from MHAO administration, the grant application for the Walmart Community Foundation was submitted to local Wal-Marts. Two, area Wal-Marts, ultimately approved the grant request and have given $4,000 in funding for the Community Health and Wellness Program's supplemental Prescription Assistance Program.
