The Summer Institute is an annual week long experience hosted by the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine. Social work students have the opportunity to be immersed in Community Medicine alongside Tulsa faculty and fellow students in medicine, pharmacy, and nursing. As an integral part of the services that are provided in the patient centered medical home here at OU Physicians, students have the experience of interacting with patients and community members in a personal and up close manner that forever changes views on health and our community. This year seventeen students from both the Norman and Tulsa campus participated in the Summer Institute. Lead by Dr. Miller-Cribbs, this experience and subsequent assignments count as an elective for students within the MSW program.
